2019’s Top-Selling Automobiles

Let’s have some fun and find out which automobile makes and models were the most popular in 2019. The automobiles listed below were the top-selling cars, trucks, crossovers, and SUVs in America. It’s pretty balanced between foreign and domestic sales, which is why Meadows Automotive works on both. Ford took the top spot, however, which would make Henry Ford very proud. After all, he was the one who said every home should have an automobile… and people thought he was crazy back then.

1. Ford F-150

This Ford truck took the top spot. Americans buy more trucks and SUVs than people do in other nations, so it’s no surprise the number one selling vehicle in the States in 2019 was a truck. You might have thought the Dodge Ram would take the top spot but it was runner-up.

2. Dodge Ram 1500

Ford did take the wind out of Dodge’s sails but the Ram 1500 still made an impressive statement in automobile sales last year. Dodge customers are faithful and those who wanted a large truck looked to the Ram 1500 to meet their needs.

3. Chevrolet Silverado

Chevrolet offered the Silverado to its pick-up buyers and this large truck rounds out the top three. Although better known for sports cars such as the Camaro and Corvette, the Silverado packed a solid punch in 2019 automotive sales in the United States.

4. Toyota RAV4

Toyota introduces the first foreign vehicle in the top eight on our list with the RAV4. This crossover SUV proved quite popular with the domestic buying population, especially those who trust Japanese automotive engineering. In fact, our next vehicle also hails from Japan.

5. Honda CR-V

Another crossover SUV, Honda sold more CR-Vs in the States than its rival Nissan, which is further down on the list. As with Dodge, Honda drivers stay true to the brand because of its economy and resale value. The CR-V remains a popular choice in the States.

6. Toyota Camry

Eco-conscious consumers who didn’t want a truck or crossover SUV opted for the Toyota Camry. This vehicle offers drivers excellent gas mileage and reliability. And, Toyota really pushed the limit on the Camry’s design, making it sportier than ever.

7. Nissan Rogue

Nissan’s entry on the list and contribution to the crossover SUV genre is the Rogue. Introduced in the States in 2007, the Rogue remains a popular choice for drivers. In fact, the Rogue is the best selling vehicle for Nissan in the United States.

8. Chevrolet Equinox

Last on our list is the Chevy Equinox. Have you seen a pattern in the top-selling automobiles of 2019? All but one on our list are trucks or crossover SUVs. Chevy’s crossover SUV is popular but still needs to make a splash with consumers to beat the other crossovers on our list.
